The Goldwin Brand Story

Goldwin is a premium, technical outdoor wear brand with over 70 years of history producing athletic, lifestyle and skiwear. The brand started out in 1950, in Oyabe City, Toyama, Japan, from a small knit fabric factory, and the brand name Goldwin production fully established in 1958. 

At Urban Industry, we’re extremely pleased to be stocking the contemporary sporting brand with so much heritage. 

Applying a new knitting technology, by 1960 Goldwin had become an innovator for Japanese ski apparel, manufacturing sweater with a new sleek design and more functionality, becoming the new fashion sensation on the slopes.By 1987 Goldwin had built such a name for themselves that they expanded, and became the official uniform supplier for the Swedish National Skiing Team - a leading team in Europe. British Alpine Skier Dave Ryding began a sponsorship with Goldwin in 2017, and in the same year they became the official sponsor of the British Alpine Ski National Team. 

2016 marked the launch for Goldwin’s lifestyle collection, a blend of ‘City life with weekend getaway into the nature…’ was the initial inspiration for the range, along with practicality, technical aspects, versatility and above all else, truly sophisticated designs. 

Goldwin’s logo represents their dynamic approach to design, incorporating agility and speed, as well as taking inspiration from Japan’s mountains and nature. This idea reflects the brand’s ethos to be at one with the natural world and how it teaches us, a world in which ‘clothing coexists with the world as much as humans do’ - but in perfect harmony.

The Goldwin lifestyle collection is what really excites us here at Urban Industry. Elevated outerwear with technical features and a polished design, the Rip-Stop Light Jackets and Tapered Pants are excellent examples of this innovation. We will be offering a year round collection of technical shorts and hiking pants to super premium t-shirts and hats, all purpose built with outdoor functionality in mind.
